16 days agoIn 2005, a joint venture was formed between Torrent Power Ltd (TPL) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to establish Torrent Power Grid Limited. The company's main objective was to construct and manage a transmission system for the efficient evacuation of power generated from TPL's 1147.5-MW combined-cycle plant in Akhakhol, Gujarat. The transmission network, spanning over 250 kilometers, was meticulously designed to transmit power at a high voltage of 400 kilovolt and has the capacity to carry up to 500 MW of power from TPL's project to Pirana, Gujarat. Since its inception, all three phases of the transmission network have been successfully operational, starting from March 2011. TPGL has been granted a transmission license by CERC, allowing them to construct and operate the transmission network for a period of 25 years on a build-own-and-operate basis.
